Michelle Wilkie class
July 23, 2016

We were fortunate enough to have Michelle Wilkie visit our guild to show us some of her beautiful quilts she had made as well as guide us through a design process for our quilts inspired by objects, places, and shapes that surround us every day.

Monthly Meeting - Shop Hop

Ashley organized a great Shop Hop for our group.  Our day was filled with laughter, shopping, petting fabric, food, and a little Pokemon!

We started off at the Quilting Squares in Franklin.  We were greeted with a demo and cookies!  Our next stop was the Dancing Bobbin in Thompson Station.  It was the a "first" for many of the members in the guild to visit this shop and what a great place it was!  They had extra staff ready to cut fabric for all of us that swarmed the shop.  Lunch was next on the agenda.  We all made the drive in to Nashville to eat at ML Rose.  They also had a very cool patio which is the back drop of our group photo.  Near by, was Textile Fabrics.  We made a quick stop here, before heading to a modern quilter's favorite shop, Craft South.  Anna Maria and team greeted us with open arms, as always.  The last stop on the Shop Hop was at Stitcher's Garden in Franklin. It was close to closing time so we had to make it quick.  It appears as though we didn't have any thrill seekers in the group looking to break the rules, because no one sent me a photo from inside this shop.

Music City Modern Quilt Guild
Meeting Recap
May and June Meeting - 2016

The May meeting was an open sew.  We also had show and tell.  Below are pictures from the May show and tell.

June was our charity sew month and in light of the recent event in Orlando we decided to switch our charity sew focus from pillow cases to heart blocks.  The Orlando MQG organized this charity sewing collaboration and asked for quilters across the USA to send in heart blocks.  Check out #quiltsforpulse on Instagram to see all the wonderful blocks and quilts that were made for the victims and victims' families.

In addition to the heart blocks made during the meeting, guild members also made heart blocks from home.  Most of our blocks were sent to Melinda Ringer who offered to assemble all the blocks into tops.  Thank you Melinda!
