June Charity Sew

For our charity sew, Emily planned for us to make pillowcases with drawstrings for the Safe Room in Nashville.  These pillowcases will go to foster children who can use them to hold all of their belongings instead of the typical garbage bags. What a wonderful charity to sew for!  We completed 29 pillowcases at the meeting and hope to do it again soon.

French seams were a new skill for many, but we soon mastered them and had a great time making the pillowcases.  Thanks for planning this Emily!

We also chose two colors from a box for our paint chip challenge.  The finished projects will be shown at our September meeting.

The guild's charity Round Robin is coming along nicely! One more border should finish it off.

Round robin swaps look great so far! (Don't look Jayne)

May Re-Cap #3

Saturday's Gam Clam workshop was very well attended.  Latifah shared all her secrets for making this awesome quilt.  That is all curved piecing with no appliqué.

Check out how amazing the quilts look amazing already after just one day!!

May re-cap #2

The Trunk Show with Latifah Saafir was so inspiring!  It was awesome to hear her talk about each of her quilts and hear the inspiration behind each.  We had new friends from as far away asChattanooga and Memphis just to learn from her.

May meeting re-cap

Many apologies for not getting this out sooner!!

May's classes and trunk show with Latifah Saafir were a resounding success. We had such a great turn out, met many new quilters, learned a lot, and had a ball.

During the bias tape workshop, participants learned about quilt design and making and sewing with bias tape. Everyone came up with their own plan for their finished project. Stay tuned for finished projects at our show and tell in the upcoming months.

Here are some pictures from the bias tape workshop:
